Our Mission

EveryGene makes genetics education more accessible, engaging, and useful for trainees and clinicians.

We create a collection of genetics study resources: EveryGene Academy, physical flashcards, free PDF workbooks, and educational content that helps learners connect genetics concepts with clinical reasoning.

EveryGene Academy serves two intentional audiences: genetic counseling learners preparing for the ABGC examination and medical genetics learners preparing for ABMGG boards. The question bank combines shared core genetics with audience-specific practice and detailed explanations.

Academy is one part of EveryGene's education work. The free workbooks and original 101 Must-Know Genetic Conditions flashcards are separate resources that can be used on their own or alongside Academy.

How EveryGene began

EveryGene began in 2023 with genetics education on Instagram and a newsletter. That work grew into a collection of free workbooks, physical flashcards, and EveryGene Academy.

The company was founded by Max Summerlin, and the team's educational work has been shaped by genetics professionals who teach, write, and review for learners at different stages of training.

Our contributors page introduces the people involved and describes how questions and explanations are developed. You can also read the Instagram education research summary.

What we focus on

Explore genetics questions, condition flashcards, and free workbooks designed to help you connect concepts with clinical reasoning.

Genetics-focused by design

Our questions, explanations, guides, flashcards, and workbooks all address genetics learning. Academy organizes shared core content alongside ABGC-focused and ABMGG-focused material.

Performance information you can use

The dashboard breaks results down by topic so you can see where your practice points and choose your next focused session.

Explanations that teach

Explanations address the reasoning behind the answer and the closest alternatives, so you have something to apply to the next question.

How we approach content

Accuracy and correction

Clinical content draws on authoritative genetics references and contributor expertise. We welcome corrections; if you find an error, contact us with the page and the relevant source.

Evidence, described carefully

Our education draws on established genetics references and learning research. We keep research findings separate from claims about Academy outcomes; the Instagram study is research into Instagram-based education, not validation of the paid question bank.

Accessible learning

Free public questions and free PDF workbooks are available without a purchase. Academy access is a separate, paid resource for structured board-style practice.

How our content is developed

Questions and explanations are drafted with a defined teaching task and reference selection, then reviewed by contributors with genetics expertise. We correct published material when a credible error is identified and keep a record of substantive changes where a review date is shown.
