Start with the current ABGC content outline resources (current outline PDF), candidate guide resources, and official practice examination. Identify your weakest areas, and build a repeatable cycle of practice, explanation review, and later retrieval. A useful study plan gives you a way to decide what to do next when your question results reveal a gap.
Use the official outline as your map
Read the ABGC examination resources before choosing a resource stack. Turn the content areas into a checklist and mark your current confidence. Familiarity from a recent rotation can be helpful, but it does not establish that you can answer an unfamiliar question independently.
Do a manageable mixed practice set early in preparation. Record both incorrect answers and correct answers that involved guessing. Use those results to choose your next focused session; do not wait until you have reread every course note to begin practicing.
Match the resource to the task
Use EveryGene Academy for board-style application and explanation review. Use the 101 Must-Know Genetic Conditions flashcards for condition-focused retrieval. When probability or inheritance is the problem, work through the free Math Workbook or Pedigree Workbook with your reasoning written out.
For counseling questions, identify the client's concern and the decision being asked. A technically accurate statement can still be a poor first response if it ignores the concern in the vignette. Practice counseling reasoning separately from syndrome recognition.
Make review part of the session
After each set, explain why your selected answer was right or wrong. Write one short correction that you could use on a different question. For example, replace "review recessive inheritance" with "an unaffected sibling of an affected child has a 2/3 carrier probability under the standard fully penetrant carrier-parent model." Return to that concept later without looking at the answer.
If the correction is a calculation, work a fresh version in the free Math Workbook. If it is a condition-recognition gap, turn it into a retrieval prompt with the 101 Must-Know Genetic Conditions flashcards before returning to Academy.
Introduce timed mixed sessions as your content base becomes more stable. In the final phase, use the current official practice resources to familiarize yourself with the board's own presentation and instructions.
Keep the plan realistic
Choose a core question resource, a concise review resource, and a place to track mistakes. Add another resource only when it solves a specific gap. There is no EveryGene score threshold validated to predict passing the ABGC examination.
Next step: Try free ABGC-style practice questions, then use the study schedule guide to plan your week.
